In celebration of National Poetry Month, Storytime will be centered around poetry. Please join us! 

Forsyth Country Day School presents Dr. Wendy Mogel

Wednesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. 

Forsyth Country Day School Auditorium, 5501 Shallowford Rd, Lewisville, NC 27023 

Dr. Wendy Mogel, parenting expert and New York Times best-selling author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee and The Blessing of a B Minus, will lead an educational program for parents and educators. Mogel’s new book, Voice Lessons for Parents: What to Say, How to Say It, and When to Listen offers guidance for communicating with children across the expanse of childhood and adolescence and explains the most effective ways to talk about your child to teachers, coaches, nannies and caretakers, grandparents, partners and your ex. In addition to author and speaker, Dr. Mogel is a clinical psychologist, who serves on the scientific advisory board of Parents Magazine and is frequently invited to speak about issues affecting family life. Bookmarks will have book for sale before and after the event and Mogel will sign books following the program. Free.  Full details: https://www.fcds.org/page/dr-wendy-mogel---special-event#

An Afternoon of Poetry

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Bookmarks will host “An Afternoon of Poetry” featuring Wake Forest Alumni: Kathleen Brewin Lewis, Gail Segal, and Catherine Woodard. Lewis is the author of the chapbook Fluent in Rivers and senior editor of the online journal, Flycatcher. A published poet, translator, and essayist, Segal teaches in the Graduate Division of Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and is the author of The Discreet Charm of Prime Numbers. Woodard helped to return Poetry in Motion to NYC subways and is on the Poetry Society of America Board of Directors. Her new book is Opening the Mouth of the Dead.

Readings on Roslyn presents Elaine Neil Orr and David Payne

Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m.

Hear the amazing Elaine Neil Orr as she reads from her new novel, Swimming Between Worlds, set in 1960s Winston-Salem. Elaine will be joined in conversation with David Payne, author of Barefoot to Avalon. Bookmarks will provide books for sale and both authors will have a signing after the program.  Free.

Southern author and North Carolina native, Amy Willoughby Burle will speak about her new novel, The Lemonade Year, which tells the story of Nina who has just lost her father, her marriage is ending, and her job is in jeopardy. She has an assignment photographing 32 ways to make lemonade. What will she do with the lemons life has given her?  A booksigning will follow.
